Common Body of Knowledge (CBK)

The Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) consists of ten domains or subject areas considered essential to the Certified Information System Security Professional. Anyone seeking certification needs to have an understanding of the principles, practices, and functions in each of these areas. Only with a firm grasp of these ten subject areas can an Information Security Professional understand the interaction among all facets of information security.

The Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) Review Seminar

The review seminar is an intensive course covering the ten CBK domains, each of which deals with some aspect of information security. The seminar is intended to focus your study time on the CBK topics that will prepare you for the CISSP exam. The CBK review seminar is an excellent means of learning the concepts and topics covered in the CISSP exam, as well as those covering all aspects of information security.
There are training vendors who offer training courses (CISSP CBK Reviews) that cover the information that is in the CBK. It is important that there be a distinction between training management vendors who contract with (ISC)² to provide the training and those who provide independent instructors. (ISC)² provides the industries premier CISSP CBK Review seminar, the CISSP exam is and can only be offered by (ISC)² the International Information System Security Certification Consortium. While the same subject areas may be covered, only the instructors provided by (ISC)² use training materials and presentations developed by (ISC)² .
